HSV GTS is an Australian luxury GT car produced by Holden Special Vehicles. What makes the HSV GTS special is the fact that it is powered by a powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine. The powerhouse design enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 5.5 seconds. As for the automatic version of the vehicle, it could accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 5.6 seconds. If you look into the performance of the HSV GTS, you will notice that it is at par with some of the GT cars out there.
Australia’s Luxury GT Car
GTS was first introduced in 1992. The first series was very robust, and it can easily be one of the most powerful cars produced by HSV. HSV GTS, however, was a bit different. With its MRC or Magnetic Ride Control, it enables users to experience driving at its finest. It offers superb performance through its easy handling. MRC is not present in the other models of the HSV.
In fact, this was one of the reasons why HSV is starting to claim that they have the GT car that could ultimately compete with other types of GT cars in the market. Performance-wise, the HSV GTS was able to resemble the performance of Porsche 997 when it was tested to have a full stop while reaching 100 kilometers per hour. It stopped at 36meters, just a few centimeters from the Porsche 997. It is no surprise why the HSV GTS was mentioned often with the likes of the Lamborghini Gallardo and Mercedes Benz AMG CLS55.
By 2009, HSV was able to release the HSV GTS series two. In terms of the engine used, only a few things were changed. However, the handling was even better as the HSV GTS series two implements a recalibrated MRC. And since the new HSV GTS has wider wheels, the designers decided also to change the springs to give the car better support.
Just a year after, the E series 3 of the HSV GTS was released. In terms of the engine, there wasn’t much that changed. Among the notable improvements on the third series of HSV GTS was the fact that it has better interiors. Also, the driver can drive the car easier with its improved control panels and a new computer to monitor everything from tire pressure to your fuel stats. A lot of car enthusiasts have compared the HSV GTS Series 3 with the Nissan GT-R. Equipped with a new system, the HSV GTS was basically monitoring everything including speed, g-force, and even fuel economy.
As for improving the road safety of the HSV GTS, it has the capability to allow the driver to be informed of the blind spots. The system called the SBZA (side blind zone alert) makes use of ultrasonic sensors to give you what you need to know when it comes to traffic obstructions. In terms of fuel economy, the car is offering LPG gas as an option instead of fuel.
The HSV GTS is a one-of-a-kind GT car because it allows you to get the best results given the easy handling that it provides. Also, the third release of the GTS considers everything that a driver needs including a guarantee of his or her safety.
